Manchester City are reportedly keeping tabs on Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite in the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old defender is having an outstanding season with his club. This has led to a number of European clubs looking to sign him during the summer transfer window. Branthwaite has also been called up to the England squad and is expected to feature against Belgium tomorrow.

According to the Daily Mail. Manchester City have been monitoring the player’s development for some time and see him as having the same technical qualities as John Stones.

Manchester United are the first to be interested in signing the player. The Red Devils are expected to offload a number of defenders in the summer. They will be looking to sign a younger defender.

According to the Daily Mail, City are in a better position than their rivals to secure the services of Branthwaite. Everton’s asking price for the defender could be in excess of £60 million. Which would be a problem for Manchester United.

The Manchester giants could face competition from Real Madrid for the Englishman. Carlo Ancelotti has been impressed with Jarad’s recent development. It was the Italian coach who brought Branthwaite to Everton in 2020.
