Arsenal and Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Dortmund striker Donyell Malen in the summer transfer window.

Malen is having one of his best seasons with Borussia Dortmund this season. He has scored 11 goals in 19 Bundesliga appearances for the club. This has made him the subject of interest from a number of English clubs. Arsenal and Manchester United are among them.

Donyell Malen would not mind returning to Arsenal. He played for the club’s academy from 2015 to 2017. Before leaving for Dutch club PSV Eindhoven for a fee of £600,000.

Speaking to Voetbalzone he said: “I think, because I played in England as a youth, it is a dream to play in the Premier League. I think that is a beautiful dream.

“Yes I would [return]. I wanted Arsenal [as a teenager], my favourite club. I played there in my youth, I really wanted to break through there. Every now and then in a football career there are points at which you just have to make a decision.”

Dortmund could consider selling the player in order to monetise him before his contract expires. Especially with an offer of up to 60 million euros.

Arsenal will look to the summer transfer window to bring in players who can create competition with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in the wing position. Manchester United, on the other hand, are struggling in this position, especially after Jadon Sancho’s loan to Dortmund and Anthony’s failure to make an impact.
