Joan Laporta has spoken about the possibility of Barcelona signing Erling Haaland in the summer transfer window.

There have been rumours that Erling Haaland could be on his way to La Liga via Barcelona. However, the Norwegian international has recently confirmed that he is happy at Manchester City.

The Catalan club could be considering the possibility of signing a striker. Especially with Polish striker Robert Lewandowski turning 36. However, club president Joan Laporta has denied this possibility.

“We don’t need any big signing,” he told Mundo Deportivo (via Fabrizio Romano). “There will be movements but I don’t anticipate big ones, just team players.

“Our priority is to trust the team we have right now, we don’t want to sign players who could distort our harmony.”

Erling Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world at the moment. He has scored 54 goals in 58 Premier League games for Manchester City since joining the club in 2022 from Borussia Dortmund.

Laporta also spoke about the rumours surrounding the future of Frenkie de Jong. He has been linked with Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham in recent times.

“Frenkie de Jong is super happy here,” Laporta claimed. “The last thing he wants is to leave Barcelona.

“He always told me that he loves to be at Barça and we’re delighted with Frenkie too. I’m not worried with his future, at all.”
