Cole Palmer believes Chelsea will improve after a disappointing season in the Premier League.

On Monday night Cole played one of his best games of the season as he led his side to a 3/2 win over Newcastle in an epic match at Stamford Bridge.

The team had spent a lot of money on signings during the summer but failed to produce the kind of form that would make them a contender for the Premier League title under Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea are eleventh in the Premier League standings with 39 points behind tenth-placed Newcastle with 40 points. The Blues are 16 points adrift of the top four, putting them out of the Champions League next season.

The Blues could face punishment from the Premier League next season if they do not resolve their Financial Fair Play issue. However, Cole Palmer believes that the team will improve.

“I think there’s so much talent at Chelsea,” he told Sky Sports. “The fans don’t see it, you guys don’t see it. But I think the way that the manager works us on the training pitch, it is only going to get better.

“If not next season, the season after. It’s a project, everyone is young and trying to play well. You will see it sooner or later.

“We’ve had some difficult results, obviously the cup final against Liverpool, Wolves and many games.

“To get points is vital for us. We showed a bit of passion and had the courage to play because that’s what we need as a young team.

“We are going to make mistakes, everybody is going to make mistakes, it’s just about moving onto the next one.”
