The Australian was appointed to take charge of Spurs last summer after a successful spell with Celtic.

The 58-year-old had previously led the Australian national team, Yokohama Japan and Celtic before joining Tottenham to make a strong impact at the London club, who will be aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League and qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.

Mikel Arteta will face Postecoglou in the North London derby on Sunday, and the Spanish coach said he was not surprised by Postecoglou’s impact at Tottenham.

“Really impressive with what he has done. It’s not a surprise,” Arteta said at his pre-match press conference.

“I know it from when he was in the Australian national team, when he was in Japan, I followed Celtic and he has always been super clear with the direction and identity of how his team plays. I love the way his teams play so I think he’s been very good.”

The Gunners will be looking to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League, although the gap with City has narrowed to a single point with a win over Brighton with a game in hand, so Arteta’s side are bound to win the derby.
