Manchester City defeated Luton Town 6/2 in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night.

The match witnessed the brilliance of Norwegian scorer Erling Haaland who scored five goals, four of which came after a pass from Belgian Kevin De Bruyne, and Mateo Kovacic scored the sixth goal for City, while Luton Town’s goals were scored by Gordon Clarke in the 45th and 52nd minutes.

“The players read the game perfectly,” said Guardiola after Manchester City defeated Luton Town. “The connection of Kevin with Erling was great but everyone contributed. Happy to be in the quarter-finals, one game away from Wembley.

“Erling needs a guy with the vision, the quality, the generosity. Kevin is the less selfish player in front of goal. Kevin needs the movement from Erling. We know how aggressive they are.

“Every pass was good. The finishing from Erling was good. We could have scored more, we had two or three more chances, one against one with Krul. But the players read (the game) really well. They did it perfectly.

With this victory, City succeeded in qualifying for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, and Pep Guardiola’s team will seek to preserve the title they won in the last edition.

City qualified for this round after beating Huddersfield Town by five goals in the next round before beating Tottenham 1/0 in the fourth round, while Luton Town beat Bolton 2/1 in the third round before winning by the same score against Everton.
