Pep Guardiola has declared that his Manchester City side are ready for the battle at Anfield and will be aiming for a positive result at this difficult stadium.

The 28th round of the Premier League will see last season’s champions Manchester City and Liverpool play each other. This match is important for both teams to continue to compete for the title. Only a single point separates the two teams. Both teams will be looking for a win, especially since Arsenal managed to beat Brentford 2/1 to temporarily take the top spot in the league.

In recent seasons, Manchester City and Liverpool have been battling it out for the Premier League title. However, Anfield has not been an easy place for City to play. They have only managed to win at the stadium on one occasion in the last 23 years.

Pep Guardiola spoke about the difficulty of the task at Anfield during the press conference

“Especially the quality of the team. Yeah, of course (the atmosphere), but especially the quality of the team.”

This could be the last match between Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp. The latter has already announced that he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

Asked whether that situation could make the atmosphere tougher for his side on Sunday, Guardiola added: “I don’t know, we will see on Sunday. It will be nice, because it always has been, and I accept the challenge.

“I respect completely his decision. I spoke with him and had the feeling he would be back later. He loves football. His passion is still there. He explained perfectly the reason why. So in the Premier League it is the last time, but maybe in the FA Cup we can find another. We will see.”
