According to media reports, Arsenal have Zubimendi as a summer target, In order to strengthen the team’s midfield.

Following Thomas Partey’s successive injuries this season, the Gunners are considering letting the Ghanaian go. Arsenal have identified Martin Zubimendi as their main target and Douglas Luiz and Amadou Onana as replacements for Thomas.

Arsenal are expected to face stiff competition from Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the race to sign the Spain international this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Bavarian club will look to sign Zubimendi if Xavi Alonso takes over as coach. However, the Spanish coach has expressed his desire to remain at the helm of Bayer Leverkusen.

Alonso, who previously coached Real Sociedad B before taking over at Bayer Leverkusen, is an admirer of midfielder Martin Zubimendi.

Fabrizio Romano wrote : “Understand Martin Zubimendi remains on Arsenal list; and he was on top of Bayern list in case Xabi Alonso was gonna become their new coach. Bayern still appreciate Zubimendi as one of the targets but final decision will be up to next manager. It’s all quiet with Barça.”

Zubimendi has a £51million penalty clause in his current contract with Real Sociedad. The London club will have to pay a significant fee for his services.

The 25-year-old has been in fine form in La Liga over the past few years. Signing him would strengthen Arsenal’s midfield
