Wolverhampton manager Gary O’Neil says he is surprised by Pochettino’s departure from Chelsea.
The Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino announced his departure from the Blues by mutual consent, which surprised English football followers, especially since he finished the season in a good way with the team.
Chelsea finished the season in sixth place in the Premier League after five consecutive victories that secured the team’s participation in the Europa League next season.
Gary O’Neil announced that he was surprised by the Argentine coach’s decision to leave the team.
“Really, really surprised. Especially the way they ended the season I thought they looked like a good side,” he said to Sky Sports.
“You talk about tough jobs and what I walked into at Wolves but he walked into an incredibly tough changing room with so many players that had been signed and had to keep them all united.
“It was obviously going to take time and you saw them starting to gain momentum. But yeah, really good manager, really good club. It’s a special club Chelsea, one of the biggest in London, I’m sure they’ll find a good replacement and I expect Chelsea to be very strong next year.
“And I expect Mauricio to find another good job and show what a great manager he is.”
